The Nomadic Chef Catering Co. is located in the mountainous crags of South Starksboro and services events all over Vermont. The business began in 2002 while owner Lauren Gammon was traveling through the river valleys of Laos & Thailand. Having lived in Southeast Asia as a child and traveled extensively through Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Japan and Malaysia Lauren found herself in culinary bliss. Aromatic herbs and spices wafted from roadside food stalls and the markets where a carnival of color. She literally followed her senses from stall to stall vigorously writing down the flavors and textures she experienced and using her minimal Thai/Lao vocabulary to decipher ingredients. Upon returning from abroad Lauren dedicated herself to the test kitchen creating recipes that incorporated both ethnic trends and local and European ingredients. It was then the Nomadic Chef was born. Lauren still continues to travel all over the world collecting new ideas while staying abreast of new trends in the culinary profession.
